The streets around Fourth Ward Park hold Charlotte's best-preserved run of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century houses, restored through the neighborhood's revival and protected by historic district review. Established condominium towers sit a block or two out, which is why the ward mixes porch-scale streets with high-rise living more comfortably than any other quadrant.
