The Levine Center for the Arts
The Levine Center block on South Tryon is the cultural center of gravity for Uptown: Mint Museum Uptown for craft, design and American art; the Bechtler for mid-century modernism; the Gantt Center for African-American art and history; and the Knight Theater for dance, opera and touring performance.
For residents of Third Ward and the southern half of the loop, this block is effectively a neighborhood amenity — most towers in the quadrant are a five-to-ten-minute walk away.
- Mint Museum Uptown — craft, design and American and contemporary art
- Bechtler Museum of Modern Art — mid-twentieth-century European modernism
- Harvey B. Gantt Center — African-American arts, culture and history
